Heaven's Above

Thank you to everyone who viewed, stared, favourited and made comments on my 300th blip yesterday. You are a wonderful lot! 
Today, I was in East Devon and took this image of the Norman Lockyer observatory. The observatory was founded by Joseph Norman Lockyer in 1912 when he retired to Sidmouth following the closure of the South Kensington Observatory, of which Lockyer was Director. The Observatory's historic instruments are associated with Lockyer's pioneering work on star temperature which led to theories of stellar evolution and the foundation of astrophysics. 
Observatories to me always seem to create a connection between this world and the vastness of the universe, of which we are such a tiny part.
