Red hot

Looking lovely in the sunshine today,* these Kniphofia (I think that's right!) flower every late October and make a fine display at the end of the drive. We don't know how the plant got there. It wasn't there when we bought the house and we certainly never planted it. There is hardly any soil where it is, just gravel, and we do nothing to it all. And yet every year there seem to be more blooms than  there were the year before. 

* We did have a shower as well. Just as we left Appleby Medical Centre after getting our Booster Vaccine.
