5 Generations...
...of mother to daughter. The top left is my great-great grandmother, top center is her daughter, (my great-grandmother), top right is HER daughter (my grandmother), bottom right is my mother, bottom middle is me, and bottom left is my daughter. Needless to say it has to be updated with Jennie's high school photo so that her age is similar to mine, my mom's & grandma's photos, & I need to add my granddaughters. I had in mind something much different for today, but by the time we got home I was beat! I woke up at 3:15 in the morning because my phone kept dinging, so of course I thought something was wrong and checked it. My step-daughter had sent some links to articles she wanted me to take along to the doctor this morning, & she works nights in California, so wasn't thinking about the time difference. Then I couldn't get back to sleep! Got up at 5:30 so we could be at the hospital for Tom's lab draw at 6:30, then saw the doctor at 8. Tom's bone marrow biopsy report was basically the same as the last one, so the clinical trial didn't do anything & was stopped. He was started today on a chemo drug, which he'll receive sub-q into his abdomen for 10 days every 4-6 weeks. They gave him the first dose in the clinic today and I'll be doing the rest of them. They added on a couple more meds he'll need to be taking, and then they gave him a unit of platelets followed by a unit of blood, as his counts had really dropped since last week Thursday. The dr. said he'll need to continue to have his labs checked twice a week, as while the chemo will clear out the leukemia cells, it will also clean out all the good cells so he'll be needing blood once or twice a week for awhile. This is a much harder treatment to tolerate & is the one that was routinely used for this type of leukemia up until 3 years ago when several new pills were approved. We'll just hope for the best. :) Thanks to Carolina for hosting MonoMondays this month.
