We got lost

Having spent the morning making arragement for the next couple of days, we decided that we wouldn't take the car out today, but as the sun was shining, we went for a local walk.

We put walking shoes on, expecting (correctly) wet ground, and first walked down into the little garden to look at the pond, which was lovely.  Then through a gate into the central courtyard, where we met our host, M, who was chopping wood, and the dogs.  M (and B who joined us a little while later) were very welcoming, and advised us where we could enjoy a local walk.

We walked up through their land to an old walled garden - now just hosting some fruit trees and bee hives, as it is a bit too far for them to use it to grow their veggies - they have a polytunnel for that. 

Then down a driveway, at which point I persuaded W to go into the woodland.  Fortunately at this point (A on the map) I switched on Map my Walk.  Initially we found and followed a path, but at about point B, the path petered out.  You can see that we meandered somewhat, occasionally needing to retrace our steps, but did eventually manage to forge a path, clambering through rhododendron and brambles, and crossing multiple little gullies, down to the road. 

As we walked back up the road and along the drive of our AirBnb, it once again started to rain, and we arrived back in our flat rather damp, and although we had only walked about 4 kilometres, we felt quite well exercised.  Our wet and dirty trousers and jumpers have been washed, and we've just about recovered.  Early night tonight - we've a longish drive tomorrow for a mini Blipmeet with Freespiral and Himself.
