Diary of an Edinburgher

Bin Find Number 174

At last I have arranged Covid booster shots. The NHS number on the website was ‘not available’ (??) this morning, so I rang the surgery. I know they’re always telling us NOT to ring them with COVID related queries, but I hoped they might have a usable phone number. While listening to a long long recorded message about everything, a number was mentioned. I rang it, but was told it was too busy - I was to hang up and try again later. I did this three times while I ate my porridge. Eventually I got a person - and a helpful person at that. She booked us in for next week. Yay!

We set off across the Meadows - my aim was a coffee at Kauai - haven’t been there for ages. I also inspected a beautiful new ice cream shop. Though not an ideal time to open an ice cream shop, at the beginning of winter…

I walked home, while the others went a big walk round by the Grassmarket, up the Vennel steps, over the Meadows and round by the Links. Much much longer. I actually got home just a minute or two before them. I am very very slow and had to sit down a couple of times. But I’m going to see my cardio chap this week, at last.

I spent quite a bit of time watching the COP26 coverage. Biden and his AirForce One, landed in Edinburgh - he’s staying here, though I don’t know where.

This Bin Find must be one of the best yet - if only we knew a child golfer.
