A maze of leads
After more than eleven years of use, my laptop has finally come to the end of its useful life. It had been updated as far as possible by our local expert a couple of years ago but it is now beyond redemption. It didn’t take long to replace it but the newcomer brought its own set of problems. Canon no longer support our elderly printer so it can’t communicate with the new laptop. Now the research begins for a new printer.
Meanwhile, I wanted to connect either my iPad or my new laptop to a projector in order to show a video at church, while at the same time connecting a Bluetooth speaker to produce a suitable volume of sound. It sounded like a simple plan, until I found that I didn’t have the appropriate leads to do the connecting. In a short time I have learnt about VGA leads, HDMI leads, USB-A, USB-B and USB-C leads but none of this new knowledge helped me to achieve success as I lacked the essential VGA adapter. Technology is a great thing when it works!
