Loch Eck

Today we ventured east winding round the head of the fjordlike Loch Striven to the Ben More Botanical Garden. Having now visited all four gardens in the collection (Logan, Dawyck, Edinburgh and Ben More), today's is in my opinion the finest.

Among many highlights, the newly restored Fernery was very interesting.

Later, we followed the road round into Glen Finart, passing through Ardentinny before climbing out of the glen and dropping back towards Loch Eck. We spotted this fantastic view over the loch and noticed a very lucky family enjoying a parky picnic on a promontory on the hillside (see bottom left - press L for a larger image).
