Everyday I Write The Book

Mellow

as in rhymes with yellow. This vegan cafe at the Kennington end of Brixton (gentrified but without the proper SW9 kudos) was delightful (apart from the slightly too Al Dante broccoli).

TSM had the roast with a nut wellington as it’s centrepiece and I had a celeriac steak with butter bean and leek and a very nice watercress and mooli warm salad. Followed by a croissant bread and butter marmalade pudding and chocolate ice cream. Also a lovely chatty waiter from New York’s lower east side who now lives in Croydon with his Kurdish wife who is a vegan baker.  Check this out:

I want one,  as they say.

We hadn’t intended to go to Brixton but there were reasons (which I can’t reveal as they are covered by the Official Secrets Act). It was quite nostalgic and pretty buzzy. The traffic there and back was crappy but at least the company was good. Also found a cafe and refill shop where we bought some bits and pieces (quinoa and cardamom seed amongst other things).

Good but exhausting day despite the clocks going back and giving us an extra hour’s sleep.
