Goldfinch Feeding

I' love watching the behaviours of the different species of bird on our feeders.  For example the goldfinch will quite happily use the perch or grip onto the mesh of the feeder, staying there to consume more than one sunflower heart before flying off.  In contrast the tit family tend to dart in, extract one heart and then fly up to a branch, where they proceed to nibble away at the heart before returning to repeat the progress.

Of course, when it comes to the squirrels they just hang around, hoovering up the sunflower hearts if not disturbed.  

Another restful day after the clocks went back.  I caught the England Vs New Zealand Women's rugby union test on the TV.  A win for England and now No 1 in the world.
