Draconian immigration policies

A group of indigenous people is holding a four-day ceremony at the ICE Building to honor "all those lost at the hands of ICE and border violence."  They remind us that this is their land, that the border crosses their ancestral migration routes, and that Trump's immigration policies are being enforced (and ramped up) by Biden.

CBS News report this past August explains that while Biden's administration is no longer imprisoning and deporting unaccompanied children, it has left the remainder of Trump's immigration policies in place. An update says more than 1000 children are still in limbo.

People were requested to bring flowers and candles for the ceremonies that include dancing, praying, and the burning of sage. The main altar, pictured in my blip, has heaps of cornmeal, black beans, and red beans arranged in an intricate design with Nopal leaves, mangoes, roses, and marigolds.

I had trouble deciding which photo to blip. The Extra is what Sue calls my "Arachne photo," with powerful diagonal shadows across the ICE Building, resembling jail bars, and an indigenous blanket covering the sign next to the building.
