Zambian Friends

As days go in Malawi, today was on the mad side of hectic,
Yesterday two friends, top agriculturalists, Chris and Emmanuel, arrived fro Ndola in the Zambian copper belt to examine and discuss our new irrigation pump and discuss the success of the existing water pump, which has attracted enormous interest from Zambian Ministry,
Today we visited the factory, the women's co-operative, model farm, Dupu's farm, a selp-help cluster and Ucani preschool.
To say that they were impressed by the progress of local women and communities would be a serious understatement.
Here Chris tells us about nodules in soya roots, for fixing nitrogen in Open Pollinated seeds. Later we are shocked by the lack of nodules in a local field grown from GM seeds. The crop of seed were puny and can't be sown next year, and without nodules no nitrogen is being fixed in the soil. The women in the group feel cheated and so they should.
