Performance.

Tonight’s very late blip comes from the beautiful Pritchard-Jones Hall at Bangor University - one of the repositories for National Gallery Paintings during WW2 (the history of the building is here:  https://historypoints.org/index.php?page=prichard-jones-hall-bangor.)

It is the first time the university orchestra has performed for nearly two years, and it’s quite emotional. All students have lost out on so much due to Covid, but those involved in the performing arts have probably suffered more than most. At last tonight Bangor’s music students have the chance to play together and perform in public. They are joined by musicians from the community - needed to take the orchestra to full strength, and one of these is G, hiding at the back of the 2nd violins where he feels safest! Returning to his beloved violin has been a joyful part of his retirement, and successfully auditioning for this orchestra has brought much pride.

And so it is that we enjoy a performance of Mozart’s 40th symphony and his sublime clarinet concerto - the soloist acknowledging the applause in today’s blip. I must admit that while I wasn’t  really feeling up to going to going out, I’m really glad I’ve made the effort.

Meanwhile, back in the world of Maureen’s Medical Mysteries, the search for a diagnosis continues with a return visit to the hospital this afternoon for yet more tests. Next step is probably Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine - my troubles having started back in April 2018 after 6 weeks in South America.

Thank you once again for your kind comments and advice to rest etc; they really are so very much appreciated. Hopefully this will be the last of my ‘medical’ comments for a while as I await the next stage of investigations - unless one of today’s tests turns up something of course!
