Autumn Colour
Plenty of it despite the grey start at the windmill, where I stayed overnight. Cyclamen hederifolium, the Ivy leaf Cyclamen, is a wonderful garden plant. There were flowers when I was here in August and although past it's peak now, there will be a show well into November. The variably patterned leaves will provide attractive ground cover for many months after that. Add the fact that it's easily grown and will often spread naturally by seed, it's a plant every gardener can enjoy.
Another early morning blip, I was on the road to Birmingham by 820am. Ruth was collected and we went to an event Queen Alexandra College who were hosting an event to raise the profile of various organisations in Birmingham that provide support and activities for people with autism. It was interesting and some useful contacts were made. With sandwiches and cake on offer, we stayed for lunch :-) before heading off to Wales. on the way out of Brum we called in at a newly opened Scrap Shop, a community project, where items that fall between recycling and rubbish are donated to be sold on. Mostly arts and crafts materials, taking that concept in the broadest way, including a surprising number of refurbished sewing machines. We came away with varnish, some small leather offcuts and two one metre rolls of brown paper.
An uneventful trip home although we passed two serious looking accidents on the way so not everyone was so lucky. Meg was delighted to see us and Bella even more so when we dropped round to visit Jamie who has also had a good day :-)
