Eating a rainbow
Is supposed to be good for us. But we’re also not meant to have food that comes from too far away. It’s difficult. I’m happy with cabbage, carrot, apple, onion, beetroot - all of which come from around here. But I also love avocado, sweet potato and pomegranate, not to mention bananas. At least I don’t eat meat, so that helps with greenhouse gases. With the arrival of the COP26 in Glasgow - I’m so disappointed with the hopeless lack of action by all governments. Just trying to do some stuff myself. Thinking about this a lot at present.
Just in case you think I’m boasting about having a virtuous diet - I had this salad with a pie! A proper delicious pastry pie. When I was at Fareshare we had some pies that were due to expire that day. So we couldn’t send them out, as the delivery goes out the following day, and the food club can be the day after. The volunteers were allowed to take some home - Pieminister is a Bristol company which strongly supports Fareshare and I believe their CEO is on the board. And their pies are wonderful, mine was called Heidi - sweet potato, spinach and goats cheese. Delicious.
PS I found my phone. I had left it at the Oxfam shop. Doh. The cover is dull green. I’ve sent off for a different one. Brighter :-)
