Vietnam Memorial in Washington DC

The memorial has just over 58,000 names on it , listed in chronological order from the outside of the two walls that compose the memorial and that meet in the middle.  This shot is of the middle, which explains the 1975 and 1959 juxtaposed dates.

It conveys such a magnitude of loss.  Yet, 58,000 is itself just a fraction of how many people died of covid in the US: 742,000 as of today....
