Actual real stocks

These penal stocks are in Stow on the Wold. I can't find an actual date for them but stocks were used in Britain throughout the 16th and 17th centuries. These were moved to this location within the square in the 1870s when St Edwards Hall was built.

I find it amazing that they are not roped off. Tour buses decant and visitors sit in them for a photo, they are really, really old, of historic relevance and gradually falling to pieces, but not protected or preserved.

Anyway, I was passing them on my way to get my hair done and was very pleased my session in the chair would be a lot more comfortable.
