Endless summer

In spite of the rainy start to the first of October (does anyone else say "white rabbits" three times on the first of the month?) today was glorious. Spent the afternoon in the sun-trap that is the side garden, having a barbecue with all the family, who were up for the weekend.

My dad's 78 next week, so we gave him his presents and a cake - though I think his favourite gift was when George, his youngest grandson, said "granda" or something that sounded remarkably like it.

And, as ever, the midges, thunderflies and groggy autumn wasps actually seemed to find the citronella candles inviting.
