Past and present
The first train journey since lockdown ,’ it is such a pleasant way to travel.
The precursor to a day out Christmas shopping in the small market town of Clitheroe with my lovely friend P who was the first friend we made when we moved to Blackburn in 1983.
Oh , the adventures we have had , initially as part of the CND group with trips to Greenham common , maintaining a weekly presence with a stall in the town centre ( I spent a day in labour with Jess staffing the stall and then ran it in part from her pram subsequently), joining the Labour Party together as it was the only party that was supportive of unilateral disarmament and then going on to set up The women’s refuge on Blackburn. She has continued to shepherd the project and it has gone from strength to strength whilst I felt called to do other jobs . We have a lot of history and it was pure pleasure to hang out together for a full day , catchup on the new , remember the old. We are both looking to the future and trying to discern which new pastures , projects we feel drawn to . It was useful to discuss thoughts and ideas.
We found plenty of treasure, had a most delicious full vegan breakfast and then afternoon tea .
The day was made complete by the arrival of the men in our lives and pizza for tea before heading home and catching up with Strictly!
A grand day out you might say !
