Rain

Rather unusually for this part of the world, today the weather turned distinctly cooler and we experienced some rain (today's blip shows the preparation for some event - not sure what). We also took the opportunity to visit a couple of museums in the Cabanyal neighbourhood of Valencia. One was a museum dedicated to Holy Week, the other was a museum dedicated to the the origins and production process of rice, a key ingredient of paella which Valencia is so strongly associated with. Both were very good.

Today's extra shows some of the religious iconography associated with Holy Week, a very important ceremony in the religious calendar. The rather odd looking pointed conical 'costumes' are worn by penitents who process alongside the religious statues/scenes depiciting the stations of the cross. Having seen this in Seville, it makes for a very theatrical experience from a spectator point of view.
