The hunter

People assume that poodles are silly show dogs, even the standard Poodles are written off as silly, but the toys in particular get a bad reputation as lap dogs. As any dog trainer will tell you it's dangerous to forget that all dogs no matter how big or small, or how cute an fluffy they look, are all descended from wolves. However you think about it they all have some pack hunting instincts left in them.

Poodles are in fact generalist hunting dogs, they are keen to go off into the environment and find things that you've shot and fetch it, they are smart and agile, with no fear of water or a bit of undergrowth. My mother-in-law's toy poodle may be very small, ever so cute and fluffy, but in his head he is a hunting dog and he has a very strong drive to hunt for things. Since he has figured out what a rabbit is and where they live at the hippodrome, he has been more active in searching for them.
