Protect Trans Lives
Sue and I went to a rally and march for Trans Lives (in the rain). Security for the event was provided by antifascists in black bloc, some of whom appear in the reflection on the glass covering the portrait of Tete Gulley, who was lynched in Portland three years ago. A petition tells the backstory. Signatures are requested of people who live in or near Portland, Oregon.
Violence against trans people is beyond description. It was heartening to be there and to feel the strength, love, and support of the Trans people and their allies, and to feel the power of the security force guarding their rally and march.
