A fleeting visit
After a ferry crossing and a drive of 90-odd miles south-eastwards in lovely sunshine I spent several pleasant hours in Stirling while the electric car was having lots of computer updates.
I have passed Stirling Castle at a distance many times as I drive along the motorway north-westwards on a homeward route but this is the first time I have actually explored the city itself.
My first aim was to walk up the ‘tail’ of the ‘crag and tail’ feature (memories of geography lessons) and have a look at the castle on top of the crag. The views to the north were lovely over the tenement buildings to the Wallace Monument beyond.
I liked the Old Town and found somewhere there for a very tasty lunch then did a bit of shopping for essentials. It was then mtime to collect the car and head westwards once more for the ferry from Oban to Mull at 21.45. Unfortunately, I discovered on the way that all sound had disappeared
(radio, hands-free telephone, satnav etc had all disappeared.)
Watch this space for the result of the telephone call on Monday.
