Passing by

Was invited to a trip on a narrow boat to celebrate a 70th birthday.  Some of the party turned up late as there was a big snarl up of traffic because the M1 had been closed at 3 junctions.  The boat hiring company were very obliging and so we still got our 3 hours trip with a tasty buffet meal and birthday cake.  The only person I knew was the birthday girl because she is a fellow member of the Green Gym.  Her family were very welcoming and I had a lovely, if a bit chilly, afternoon.  I could have done with wearing gloves, but hot tea and radiators solved the problem.
I was amazed at how many boats we passed and the locks were great fun.  I have been on a couple of similar trips before, each one from a different destination.
