Back down to the big smoke to see a band on my hit list for a decade; earlier on went to see an excellent Rembrandt Frans Hals exhibition at The Wallace Collection and more besides.

Three Cane Whale are an eclectic instrumental folk band, using a multitude of exotic instruments, but despite winning awards and outstanding critic reviews, have never got as much recognition as is warranted. No more than 30 of us occupied the basement of Harrison's pub basement, in St Pancras.

Brilliantly compered by Pete in the middle. They seemed keen when I mentioned our local folk festival and nearby appropriate venues, so will see what I can sort. They live down in Bristol and rarely play anywhere else. They are inspired by beautiful views, folklore and interesting places and deeds.

They have toured with 17 instruments in the past. Tonight included a jewish harp, lyre, german glockenspiel and an oriental melodeon as played by Pete above amongst others. Mandolin, Guitar and muted trumpet are the staples.

To me they are hidden stars...but perhaps they will be discovered soon.

Second extra shows an old workshop, opposite a proper locals pub opposite near to Harrisons. Thankfully yet to be developed, but perhaps saved due to nearby hostels, social housing and deprivation. A "local void", to the rich that surround them in central London

The title is the name of a newly discovered star.
