A grand day out

It was fabulous to take a day off the garden today. We spent the morning with Bean’s former owners. Bean squeaked and wiggled her greeting which brought tears to everybody’s eyes. While she snoozed, the humans ate scones, drank coffee and discussed the state of the world.

Then we drove to Kaik by Moeraki, to have lunch with my best friend, followed by a short walk along the beach and back over the hill. This view of Kaik greeted us as we reached the crest on the way back.

Having eaten far too much good baking, I stopped at Herbert Forest on the way home for a hard fast hour and a half walk, up then steeply down. The exercise did me good and Bean was ecstatic to have another run about. The extra is of one of the many excellent trail maps.
