Diary of an Edinburgher

Success!

Feel more or less normal today - ie just the usual aches and pains… In fact, I ventured out and though it was gloriously sunny - boy, it was COLD,.

We’ve had a bit of a drama with the gas fire for the past week or so, which, unfortunately, has coincided with the colder evenings. The remote control suddenly did not remote control it! I replaced the batteries, but still didn’t work. I rang the gas man, who is very busy, but could come in about three weeks. Panic. Sent for a new remote control. It didn’t work either. Eventually, after consulting Youtube (to no avail), I got the actual fire instructions out. Aha! There are also batteries fitted in the fire (er, of course…) So I replaced them. All working! What joy. I could have saved a whole week of fiddling around if I’d only consulted the instructions in the first place. Lesson learned, probably possibly.

Archie had recently taken to sitting right up next to the cold fire. Was he hinting at something? However, he’s happy now.

Brian, the new owner of our old sofas, popped round with a nice bottle of champagne. I’d say a good swap (for both sides!) He also took some of our spare cushions.

The usual (spectacular) Christmas decorations are up on the Dome in town… in October??

The Scotland T20 cricket team won their third match and are now in the World Cup along with all the Big Guns!!
