Gründonnerstag

Translates as "green Thursday", but to the extent us Brits recognise it at all, it's as Maundy Thursday.

It's the Thursday before Easter, and in these parts it involves eating no fish or meat. This will be my 2nd Easter in Bavaria, and they certainly take it a lot more seriously than we do in Scottieland.

Part religion and part tradition, as far as I can make out. There's even some talk of me being dragged off to some church service on Saturday night - food to be blessed, apparently.

I'm a devout agnostic, so this has a whiff of crisis about it.

I finished work early to take advantage of the temperature creeping up above zero for the first time since I arrived on Sunday. Walked for 90 minutes to start wearing in a new pair of walking shoes I bought yesterday.

The Blip is the entrance to a local garden centre over at Etting, decorated for Easter of course. Those are eggs hanging from the tree & pergola - artificial, but still.
