Tilt
This is one of two tanks which collect rainwater from the roof of the truck (kitchen, dining, pantry and bathroom are in the truck + extensions). The second tank is hidden beyond this one.
Over the last two years they have developed a lean, thanks to the weight of water exacerbating weaknesses in some dodgy timber underneath. Not only that, but the wooden walkway that runs alongside the truck has been collapsing. A de- and re-construction was required…
Step 1. Remove all the soil from the bath tub, in which I grow yams. Tick.
Step 2. Empty the water tanks onto the native plantings in the shelter belt. Tick.
Step 3. Remove the tanks. Tick.
Step 4. Set up temporary down spouting in case it rains before I’ve got things reorganised. Tick.
Step 5. Deconstruct the wooden platform on which the tanks were standing. Tick.
Step 6. Remove the bath. Tick.
Step 7. Sit on the steps and gaze at the hole, to work out how to strengthen and straighten the walkway, as well as how to relocate the tanks on the exposed soil without putting any pressure on the surrounding timbers. Tick.
Step 8. Have a cup of tea and take Bean for a walk. Double tick.
Tomorrow I’ll implement some ideas to resolve Step 7.
The extra is how it looked when I knocked off a couple of hours ago. A work in progress.
I do love a project.
News from my UK sibling in hospital is no better, no worse than yesterday. Still dangerously ill.
