Porcelain Fungus
The weather was kinder to us today! We started in Martindale which just cried out for a panoramic shot (extra 2), and managed to wander up one of the Wainwrights to Hallin Fell with views over Ulswater before the rain came in. It was a damp walk down so we drove the short trip to the end of the road and the old Martindale Church for lunch in the dry ... I also discovered my coat is no longer waterproof :-(
Fortunately the rain stopped and we had a glorious afternoon on the side of Ulswater and there was even some sun on the fells, especially when you looked away from the lake (extra 1). We ended up in a little bit of woodland with a floor of russet autumn leaves and a few fungi. Just before we had to leave someone spotted a tree covered in delicate, translucent porcelain fungi. There was just enough time to change my lens and fire of a quick focus stack to capture my main image.
