Lathyrus Odoratus

Rhus typhina

Three years ago I dug up a small sucker from the Stag's horn sumac (Rhus typhina) tree in my father's Oxfordshire garden and replanted it here in Sussex. After forty years growth the parent tree was just over two metres tall, the sucker I took was perhaps 30cm. It is now approaching four metres and clearly likes living on heavy Wealden clay.
