Colchester Castle Beer Festival

Colchester Castle is about to have an internal face-lift. Before that gets underway there are some events going on in the empty shell of the Castle.

I have always loved the building. We were taken there regularly as school children; the surrounding park was our playground as young children and 'rebelling' teenagers and as an adult I've always found myself saying that I don't visit enough.

This evening was an ideal opportunity to remedy that. Colchester CAMRA held an exclusive Real Ale festival inside the giant, hollow shell.

I'm not a Real Ale fan but I'm a big fan of cider and they had a wonderful array of that. I had an Apple Pie variety and a Rioja variety and they were both wonderful.

I chose this photograph as the blurred face really made me smile - historic building and a ghostly image.
