Ode to Joy

The day started a bit dull and wet, but it soon turned sunny and warm. Alice went shopping for fish with her grandad and then they went for a walk along the canal in Hythe.

In between, the two of us have spent a lot of time (and emotional energy) sifting through all the photos I have of her, which I had put onto the laptop, right from when she was a baby. She added her own photos from her phone and we set about creating a book. It was a long, absorbing process, but so worthwhile, as we remembered many events from the past.

She wanted a photo with her violin as the last photo, so I took a few. This is the one I liked, although she chose another one. She is doing so well with her violin and is now in the school orchestra. We were treated to a bit of a recital, including a lovely rendition of the Ode to Joy.

Teenagers eat a lot, talk a lot, spend a lot of time getting ready to walk along the prom to the fish shop . . . but are a total joy to be with.
