Folsom Prison Blues

A very apt title for today’s blip. Two of the lines in the opening verse seem particularly relevant -
“And I Ain't Seen The Sunshine Since I Don't Know When,
I'm Stuck At Folsom Prison And Time Keeps Draggin' On.”
Sunshine - or even a clear sky - is something that has definitely been lacking over the last few days. Not only is it depressing, but it’s making the decorators job harder as they can’t alway see which areas might need touching in.
And it has most certainly felt like being in prison today. The decorators did turn up again this morning - albeit an hour late. It seems that not only were they not used on the “emergency” job yesterday afternoon, but that when they went there first thing this morning, they rapidly discovered it was not a “quick, two hour job” but would have taken all day. Eventually the decision was taken to send them back to our house to carry on there. Not that we had any inkling of this, as no one saw fit to let us know what was going on. The lads are doing a great job, but they are sadly let down by the office. It shouldn’t be down to the individual painters to be apologising / explaining to clients when this sort of situation arises. I can accept that there are staffing issues across the industry, and that emergencies do arise, but it would have been nice to have been kept in the loop and consulted. If the painting is not finished this Friday, then it has a massive impact on carpet fitters and electricians who are booked for next week. God knows when they can be rebooked for if they can’t get in to do their thing on the scheduled dates.
Anyway, the lads have cracked on apace, working in multiple rooms at once, so we have had to retire to the bedroom to keep out of their way. And apart from a half hour trip to Asda for milk and biscuits (need to keep the boys happy) that view is all we have had to look at. We will definitely have to think of somewhere to go tomorrow or we’ll end up going stir crazy!
