Commercial Arcade…

Created in the 19th century by two Jerseymen by the name of Le Boutillier.  They didn’t realise how much rock would have to be removed to level the whole thing and ran out of money before they put the roof on. It wasn’t until I heard about this when doing my guide training that I realised that arcades normally have roofs.
The Jerseymen went off to USA and made their fortunes but never returned to Guernsey to put the missing roof on. I think it’s perfect without a roof. But what do I know?
