Demystified

Into college today for a session on two of the classic Roland analogue synths: the Juno 106 and the SH-101. After forty years of being something of a synth fetishist, I can't tell you just how satisfying it has been to start learning how these wonderful machines work.

There's also a real pleasure watching them in the hands of someone how knows how to use them well (in this case the tutor, Yoss). I also had a bonus in that during one of the practical periods I not only created sound I liked but also wrote a piece of music that I'm really pleased with.

At lunchtime, I went out for a walk around the area where SEM is located, mainly to get some steps in. I came across a couple of roads that have been closed off and marked for the use of pedestrians, cyclists and children out playing.

I guess this to do with stopping these back roads from being used as 'rat runs' by impatient motorists but I do like the idea that the residents are having their space reclaimed from the motor car.
