Sunday buffet

We spent the afternoon strollling around Pretoria's spectacular botanical garden. In the wondrous cactus garden, my sister pointed out the flowering heads of this specimen, Euphorbia cooperi.

The sap is highly toxic to humans yet this small, red wasp and numerous other species of flying insects were enjoying their Sunday buffet of nectar oozing from the the sticky, yellow flowers...so much so that they were oblivious to our cameras and curious eyes.
