A bit of culture at the table

A beautiful blustery day. Worked outside in the garden, did some writing, helped out at a book event (making coffee isn't my forte), drove D to and fro. 

Also tried a recipe for apple pie parfaits and served them to the boys (W & D) in my grandmother's fancy glass parfait dishes. I wish I could blip the scent of apple slices baking down in a glaze of cinnamon, cider and maple syrup...It was very tasty and I had in mind Birgit, in Germany, a very easygoing and congenial person, declaring that every once in awhile she just needed ein Bisschen Kultur am Tisch, and was that too much to ask for? Made me smile now as then.
