Party
Katie may have flopped well when she got home last night. It seemingly did not last an appropriate amount of time. She was awake by 4.15. In her defence, she managed to hold off until 5.45 before she snuck in to me with a little "mama...."
We actually didn't have very much in the plan for the day part of today, but it was mainly about getting jobs done and then getting ready.... for her birthday party, ahead of the event on Thursday! She's only been able to show one friend our new house properly so she was really looking forward to having some of her closest friends all at once. It's our first party in the house!!
We had 10 tweens, a smaller miss, a teenage brother and two parents. Katie's hopes had been for friends, food and film. We achieved all three very successfully. There was a lot of food consumed! Dinosaur and rainbow themed room/cake/dishes... a rainbow platter in both main and pudding courses! They started out a bit quiet so I made their mocktails as they all settled. We had watermelon one (in the actual watermelon!) and we did sunrises (tequila sunrises without!). We put the film on while I got tea finished. Once there was food, they began to relax and started chatting and giggling too. Katie gave them a tour of the house. Apparently, at one point all 10 of them were on her bed at once... it held up well! Her Bobbins arrived halfway through the official time of the party and the two of them were immediately inseparable, sat over the back of the sofa together. Everyone's parents started arriving about 8. Bobbins' dad arrived and she refused to leave. Sent him away. All the other kids departed but Katie and her were not going to be parted. They had a gorgeous time together. They were up on Katie's bed nattering for a while. When they came down, Katie came in the room first. I said "Hi darling" to her as she came in. Bobbins put her head round the corner too and said "Your darling number 2 as well!". When her dad did return, they both hid in Katie's wardrobe. We agreed to a sleepover when they're on half term too.
Happy Katie!
(couple of extras today... being her best bonkers, wonderful self, and not caring one bit),
