A Walk on the Chase

Met up with family on Cannock Chase this morning.  We took a walk from Brockton Coppice after spending a few minutes watching the local fallow deer herd and listening to the bucks roaring away during the rut.  No clashes took place and the bucks appeared to be giving each other plenty of respect from what we could tell by where we were hearing the various roars.

The Chase is still taking its time to show its autumn colours.  Perhaps my walk in the Peak District tomorrow might have more colour being further north.

After the walk, everyone came back to ours for a warming stew and drinks.  It’s great to be able to do this again and despite the continuing infection, it does feel more normall.
