St Machar Cathedral
Today we went on a walk around Aberdeen, taking in the beach, the River Don, Seaton Park, the Old Town and including St Machars Cathedral. Originally founded in 580 by St Machar, a companion of St Columba, the Norman structure was built in 1131. Part of William Wallace is buried in the walls after his execution and distribution of his body parts in 1305. In all we covered 9 miles and discovered some interesting parts of Aberdeen that we hadn’t experienced before.
