Easter

Tonight, I visited Holy Cross RC Church which, being the youngest of a pretty dedicated Catholic family, I used to attend when I was child. I was there to watch my daughter and her school put on a play covering the story of Easter. I must admit, even though I no longer go to church, it was good to see the old place and watch and listen to the children undertake the play beautifully, every kid was word perfect and sang so angelically.

As I said, I spent a lot of time with my brother and my mates from school at the church in the kids clubs they ran, we must have been between five years to around eleven. The priest who run the activities and the football team was truly a great person and brilliant with us all, importantly very supportive of the local community at a time when financially most of the families were on the bread-line.

It's so sad and disappointing to hear the negative side of the RC Church, however it's like everything in life, the media only ever report the bad news and very seldom report the good things that are happening. When I was a kid we had a great priest who really did guide the community in a positive way and made sure we were taught right from wrong, and trust me, we were no angels :o) These thoughts and picture are dedicated to Father Peters.
