Goodbye Jackki

The majority of my day has been spent at the village hall. Outside along the road with many others in our bobble hats and tinsel, to wave Jackki on her way as the cars passed slowly by, stopping directly outside the hall and then just across the road at the village pub, places she spent so many happy hours. Back inside to set up the live video link to the service for all those not able to get to the crematorium. That was a close run thing as the wi-fi was playing up and it took an age. We made it just in time, lucky the service was running late!
I popped home briefly, luckily only a five minute walk, to let Reg out and give him his lunch.
Then I was back at the hall before everyone returned. There were probably about 100 people in all, from a tiny baby to some in their 90's. The village hall was overflowing. Jane the catering lady had provided a beautiful buffet and she stayed all afternoon too. A few of us had volunteered to help serve teas and wash up and keep it all running smoothly, which it did. I spent a couple of hours drying dishes, trying to keep up with Heather, our lady vicar, who was washing them!
I left about 5.30pm leaving Adrian and his family to themselves until they were ready to leave. I was exhausted but it was good to have been part of a lovely lady's farewell.
I'll be back in early tomorrow morning with a few others to clear the last of the debris before Saturday coffee morning!
