Here there and everywhere

For Dad

Our dad passed away 12 years ago today.  He was very well-read and his taste in books was as eclectic as his taste in music.  I think if he had to choose though, he’d probably choose the classics and classical music, with opera a close second.  These are three of his books from the many we have on our shelves in our front room here in Barcelona.

Not a single day passes when I don’t think of him in some way or other.  It could be when I’m in the patio as he loved gardening and knew our patio and sat out there when he visited.  Or it might be when I make a cup of tea and I hear him saying, ‘Sit down, have a cup of tea and we’ll have a blether’, or it’s when I ask myself, ‘what would dad do?’.   It’s sometimes when I’m on a call with busboy and he says something or looks in a certain way and I think, ‘that was just like dad!’.

He was a true gentleman.  He lives on in our thoughts, hearts and actions.
