White Coomb via Grey Mare’s Tail

It’s been 6 months since my last spinal surgery and today marked a new milestone in my recovery.
My partner and I went on a strenuous walk in the Moffat hills. It was a sunny but chilly day. Wearing woolly hats ,gloves and thermals.
We walked for 6 hours starting with a steep climb by the stunning waterfalls of The Grey Mare’s Tail , The path became extremely boggy walk by Loch Skeen . We passed a large group of open water swimmers ( brrrr). We eventually made it to the start of the tough climb up to Lochcraig Head.
This climb nearly did for me, I was nearly sick half way up. A wee rest and some dried fruits and nuts revived me. We then walked along a long broad ridge to White Coomb at a height 821 metres.
The decent was also steep and tough on the knees.
We somehow managed to navigate the crossing of the burn without falling in. Our feet got soaked again ! thankfully we had other footwear and fresh socks in the car.
Looking forward to a hot bath .
