This bird cage has been about in Urbino longer than I have.
It used to hang outside the barber's shop window where it is now.
When I first saw it, there was a pair of little greenfinches inside, but there was some fuss about them and I think Pippi (the barber) released them. They were captive birds, so I guess they didn't fare very well.

They were followed by a pair of canaries. And now nothing.
It's the first time I've seen the cage taken down. Usually that only happens on a Monday, when barber's shops and hairdressers all over Italy are closed.
