With the wind and sun in our hair
I don't normally post pictures of F, but this is my favourite photo of the day. It captures the fun we had standing in the open-air part of the Overlander train carriage as we travelled from Auckland south to Wellington, watching the rolling hills, hawks and sheep go by. Every time we crossed a viaduct, there was that heart in mouth sensation of seeing the train wind its way round. We had great chats with various people on the trip and ate a great many afghan biscuits (yum). Definitely one of the great train journeys. The national park in the centre was gorgeous, but we couldn't stop for long as the train had lost a bit of time.
We set up for the night at a hostel in Wellington. No wind!
