Purrfect
Teddy had his first visit to our vet today and it was a right hassle getting him into the cat crate.
We had no idea he was such a strong cat and he escaped several times before we managed to catch him and drop in in a most undignified manner into the vertical crate. (This was a technique I once saw used in Cat Rescue many years ago).
Due to all this palaver we missed our appointment and arrived in time to see a yelping Staffie go in first. I have no idea what the vet was trying to do but the Staffie was having none of it. At one stage I thought he would break the door down.
So when Teddy eventually crawled out of the crate you could see the relief on the vets face.
She stroked him all the while murmuring what a lovely cat he was though he didn’t take kindly to being weighed.
Then came the good news. He is spot on for his size 6.1kilos. No he is not overweight. The test is whether you can feel a cats ribs, yes he does wolf his food down but that’s because he has been living on the streets and he never knows where his next meal is coming from..
But what about his cheeks I say “He is fat.”
“No he has chubby cheeks because he was castrated late and male cats develop them.”
Suitably chastened I put Teddy back in his basket.
