All systems go today.
Ronnie arrived in this morning with his tractor and mobile bruiser to do the pile of barley sitting in the shed. This involves filling the machines hopper with the telehandler ( scrounged for the day from my contractor pal ) with barley which then passes between 2 massive steel rollers to flatten the grain. This is so the cattle and sheep can digest it better as whole grain would pass right through them undigested. We also add propcorn ( propeonoic acid ) as a preservative to save having to dry the grain.
By tonight we had done 75 tons and used 750 litres of propcorn. So that is harvest officially over for 2021. Apart from some grass to bale.
Took the telehandler back and then the terrier was at the vet about his ears again. More expense.
Had to go next door to calve a cow tonight.
Littlemiss usually helps me but she's away at a friend's house tonight. She will be mad she missed the vet action !
