Return to the West Highlands
Since I was driving to Glencoe today it made sense to complete one of the few remaining chunks of the West Highland Way. The easiest section both in terms of logistics and terrain was a ‘there and back’ Tyndrum to Bridge of Orchy, about 6.5 miles each way.
I started in heavy rain, finished in a drizzle and in between times there was sunshine and cloud at about 500m. Lunchtime was almost warm with great views beyond the railway station at Bridge of Orchy. A much faster return trip with a couple of stops to talk to walkers who as always on this route are unfailingly friendly and cheery.
Back in Tyndrum in time for excellent mid afternoon coffee and coffee cake at the Real Food Café.
Now cozily ensconced in North Ballachulish admiring the mountain views towards Glencoe before the light disappears.
