A late night in Sheffield at the legendary City Hall to listen to the delectable Rufus Wainwright and his sublime backing trio.

Rufus at any point is interesting but his voice is incredible, rising and falling like breath itself into the cooling South Yorkshire night.

And then, to top it all, he sang Sandy Denny’s ‘Who Knows where the Time goes.’ My god…

We had a very quick bite earlier at Mamas & Leonies, a Sheffield institution where I’ve been going now to eat home cooked Italian for 38 years.

This shot was a quick snap taken late at the car park across the cityscape. Sheffield’s beating heart still beats with mine.
